For the dough:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 and 1/4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup coconut powder
  • 1 tbsp margarine
  • 1 tbsp yeast
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom

Put all the ingredients in a mixer and mix until you get a soft dough.
Cover the dough and let it rise.
Next roll the dough and cut into squares or diagonals.
Deep fry them until they lightly turn colour.
Keep them aside to cool.

For the sugar syrup:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
    cook the syrup until it becomes sticky a bit.
    Remove from heat.

Take a big pot, place it on a medium high heat stove and put half the cooked syrup.
When the syrup starts bubbling put half of the cooked mitai and gently flip them around until the syrups coats dry on the mitai.
Repeat with the remaining mitai.
Serve with tea.
