Red Velvet Cake
Red Velvet Cake:
1 and 1/4 cup flour
3/4 cup oil
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp white vinegar
1/2 tsp cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla sugar or vanilla essence
Red food colouring..enough to give the batter a deep red colour.
How to make buttermilk:
*To make buttermilk, simply take 1/2 cup milk mix with 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp lemon juice mix and let the milk stand for a few minutes.
In a bowl, add flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, salt and mix well.
In a mixer, add the oil, buttermilk, egg, vanilla sugar, red food colour powder, vinegar and mix well.
Now add the flour mixture into the mixer and mix well to form a batter.
Pour the batter in a bundt cake pan and bake in a 350 degrees oven for about 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool completely before frosting.
Cream cheese frosting:
2 tbsp cream cheese
2 tbsp margarine
2 and 1/2 cups icing sugar
Mix these ingredients until creamy.
Pour the frosting over the cooled cake. For the web design, I just coloured a little bit of the icing with red food colour then I placed the coloured icing in a cone and made the design.
