3/4 cup flour
pinch of salt
1/2 cup grated cheese
4 tbsp butter
1 tsp curry powder
poppy seeds to garnish
In a bowl, add the flour, salt, curry powder and mix. Then add the butter and rub in until it looks like breadcrumbs. Now add the cheese and half of the egg and mix thoroughly to form a dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for at least half an hour.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Now, on a floured counter, roll out the dough into a square shape. Then cut the square in half and cut each half into strips, about your middle finger size or longer. The thickness should be about half an inch.
Place the strips in a prepared baking sheet and brush them with the remaining egg. Then sprinkle some poppy seeds on top. Bake the straws in the oven for about 10 to 15 mins or until golden-brown. If they are beginning to brown at 10 minutes, then turn your oven to broil and let them turn into golden-brown, remove them immediately from the oven. Let them cool completely before removing them from the baking sheet.
