Vermicelli Rice




Vermicelli Rice:
4 mugs rice
3/4 mug vermicelli..the broken ones
3 cardamom pods
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 cup oilMethod:
In a pot, add some water enough to cook he rice, half of the oil, salt and bring it to a boil.
While the water is boiling, take a frying pan, add the remaining oil and cook the cinnamon and cardamom for a minute, then add the vermicelli and cook until golden brown or darker if you prefer darker colour. At this point if you want soft noodles in your rice, you can add about 1/2 to 3/4 mugs of water and cook the noodles (vermicelli) until they are soft and all the water has dried out. I did not add any water to the vermicelli because I wanted them to be crispy a bit.
Once the water for the rice has come to a boil, cook the rice until half way cooked then drain the rice.
Now layer the rice in a pot by placing rice then some of the vermicelli spread about 1 tbsp oil or more then rice again them vermicelli then 1 tbsp of oil and continue in this manner until you are left with rice for the top layer.
Bake the rice in the oven until well done.
Serve the rice with your favourite curries..
