Minced Meat (Keema) Pilau
1 and a half pounds keema
1 large onion..Diced
2-3 cups rice
1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp coriander seeds
4 cardamom pods
Oil for cooking
3-4 potatoes peeled and diced
Place a pot on a medium high heat.
Next add the oil and start frying the onions.
Cook the onions for a few minutes then add the spices and continue cooking.
Next add the keema and mix well.
Cook until the keema has cooked then add the potatoes and continue cooking.
Then add water, then cover the pot and let the water come to a boil.
Once the water comes to a boil, remove the lid and add the rice and stir the mixture gently. Taste for salt.
When the rice is cooked half way, drain the rice in a colander and add the rice back to the pot, draining away any excess water.
Bake the rice in the oven until the rice is fully cooked.
Once the rice is cooked, remove the pot from the oven and transfer the rice into a serving plate.
Serve hot with a side of vegetable or meat curry. Or serve it as a side dish with mishkaki or tandoori chicken.
