Katlesi za Mayai
KATLESI ZA MAYAI
3 to 4 large potatoes..Boil, peel and mash the potatoes.
8 to 9 tbsp breadcrumbs..I used breadcrumbs because my potatoes were sticky.
2 tbsp dried parsley (optional)
4 to 6 boiled eggs..peeled
2 tbsp ginger/garlic paste
1/4 tsp garlic salt (optional)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp curry powder
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp mustard seeds or rai seeds
1/2 tsp red chili flakes
2 tbsp oil
Put all these ingredients in a pan and cook until all the liquid has dried out.
Let the mixture cool and pour over the mashed potatoes, taste for salt. Add the dried parsley and mix well.
Now check your mixture if you fell it’s sticky and wet, add the breadcrumbs, if you feel it’s fine, then omit the breadcrumbs.
For me, I added the breadcrumbs as my potatoes were sticky. Mix well and take some mixture and flatten it on your palm and add the boiled egg, then seal the egg with the mixture to form a ball (the egg should be covered inside and not be visible). Coat the shaped katlesi with breadcrumbs and keep aside.
Repeat this process with the remaining eggs and mixture.
Now take 2 raw eggs and beat them in a bowl.
Dip the shaped katlesi and deep fry in oil. Cook until golden brown then remove from the stove.
Deep fry all the remaining katlesis.
Serve them with lemon wedges or chutneys.
